Another First!

Annalee got her first "real" haircut today. She has been growing her hair for over 4 years. When she came home from China in '04 her head had been shaved. We have been letting her hair grow ever since she came home. She has had trims mind you, an inch here, an inch there... this one was for REAL! About six months ago I told Annalee about Locks of Love, for hair donation to sick children. Well she was so enthusiastic, she has been talking about the day she would cut her hair. You need to have 10 inches of hair that is cut in order to send it in for donation. Annalee wanted to be Jasmine for Halloween, so we decided that she should keep her hair long for Halloween and then cut it after that. Annalee had 11 inches cut off today, and we sent it to Locks of Love. She is so proud... she did not even tear up once during the whole thing... the same can not be said for mommy! Her hair cut is so cute!!! She looks about 2-3 years older. I will post pictures soon.

Tooth Fairies and Princesses

Well, it happened!
The tooth fairy visited last night. Annalee lost her first tooth. It had been loose for about 2 months now. She has had the permanent teeth (2) coming in for a month or so. She has looked a little bit like a shark - too cute! The tooth fairy left her a very special surprise (since it was the first tooth) the tooth fairy wrote her a letter and sprinkled her, and her bed with "Fairy" dust - (more commonly know as glitter!) She was just astonished this morning when she woke up, oh my goodness - the joys of childhood. I so love being her mom! Every day is a new adventure. We feel so blessed to be her parents - Thank You God, for Annalee.

Halloween was a couple of days ago, we had a blast - Annalee was dressed up as Princess Jasmine - she was pretty cute (if I do say so myself). We were invited to a party up the street, there were about 80 people there and a good time was had by all. The trick or treating ensued with all the little ghosts, goblins, superhero's and princess' running wild! it was so much fun. We travelled around the neighborhood in golf carts, scooters and wagons. It was hysterical to see the frenzy of joyous kids! I will have to post a couple of pictures soon.

Annalee takes her test for pre-team in gymnastics tomorrow afternoon. She is very excited! She has been watching the Olympics on t.v. and had decided that she wants a gold medal too. She has been mimicking the "moves" all day. OMG she is so cute! Oh how I love this little girl! Who knew??? I had no idea how much I would love being a parent. WOW! So much so that we are waiting for her sister... we thought we would be finished after just 1 child together. Nope, God had other plans for us. Hurray!!!

Adoption is definitely not for weenies... this "gestation period" has taken so long, many people that have been waiting over a year and a half are choosing to end their wait . It is so sad to hear about families adoption dreams dying. It is so sad that when we all signed up for this, the wait was about 1 year, it keeps getting longer and longer. The wait is projected to go well over 3 years for the traditional child program.

We signed up for the Waiting Child Program in October 2007, so we think that we are getting close to a referral of our daughter. We almost signed up for the Waiting Child Program when we started this process, I thought I allowed someone to talk us out of it. I used to be angry about this and the person... (whom is no longer in our circle of friends) but in retrospect, we would not have the child that we are meant to have if we had gone with what we thought was "our" plan. I can now say I understand the reason why that person was in my life and I am thankful. It took me a long time (over a year) to come to that realization - but I am now very grateful for her presence in my life. I only thought I "allowed" her to influence me - all in God's time.

Little News

Well, there has been very little news regarding our China Journey for #2. We got an e-mail two weeks ago, asking us (and 2 other families) to consider a little girl with bladder extrophy. We were on vacation and did not get the e-mail until 2 days later. It was a first come first serve basis with all three families that were e-mailed about her. Needless to say, another family requested her file first. They decided two days later that the little darling was their daughter! I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, she was not meant to be our daughter. She was meant for the family that will be adopting her soon. Congratulations to the "D" family! You have been richly blessed! She is beautiful!

News for our family will be coming soon, of that I am sure. All in God's timing... not ours.

Annalee is getting her six year molars, and has a loose tooth in the front! She is so excited, she said "I have been waiting for a loose tooth my whole life!" She starts Kindergarten in three weeks. I can't believe it! Oh my, the time has flown by. (except in the news for our second daughter - LOL).
